Appeal of “doing best by doing good” is great. Might be that is why there are so many social businessmen applying business practices to solve problems of pollution, poverty and poor nutrition level. Though lots of good feeling for solving society’s problems, it is little hard to take a social enterprise one step ahead.

In private firm, the main aim is that own shareholders. While with a social firm, there is something more-social affect-growth is misplaced, and that is why social firm is not so easy.

Still there are some guidance which is important to remember if you have an eye for growth of your social firm.

 

Be concentrated

Might be biggest risk social businessmen experience as they effort to grow their firm is to be more focused and also product lines too. More beginners make same mistake.

Social firms have to stay very restricted, keep it very simple and just concentrate on bottled water. Other social businessmen give same advice. The last thing social business need to do is to get a reputation for not concentrating on their mission. As some believes that it is not so necessary to be more focused on mission as the firm grows. As with any kind of business, businessman need to ask that what is the value his firm providing to customers?

 

Stay in Competition

Do not get confusion helping society with avoiding the need to be business savvy. While customers may be willing to change their behaviour, they will only do as they done from before time and see only quality and cost of the product with comparing to other same products.

Though many social business depend on the mission to sell their product or service as much as they can. That may work for them but it will not work for long time.

It is also effective to think about capital structure of firm. And need to use of debt effectively with more care. And used to think that how they can make the capital be safe for the financial growth. Generally we can see in social firm, they do not much care for outside capital which is needed for financial growth.

 

Be sure in hiring great talent

A firm whether for profit or not for profit or social business is only as best as the talent it can attract and get. In some cases, as just due to the appeal, social firm can attract employees who would not be agree to do low paying job. Working at a beginning and being at the start of something socially engaging and which has importance able to hire really great employees at a less salary.

 

Still social business should do what they can to stay in competition when it comes to getting talented employees. Great talent will be drawn to something interesting like a goal, but social firm also have to be more focused to incentives to bring great people.

 

To be sure, the best path to develop social firm is to manage it like you would any business. In the starting, social businessmen have to see their social firm three parts as businessman point of view and only one part as social business. As when you be succeed in business then you can start to make your firm as three parts social and only one part profit.
